Sunday 18thOctober,

we are delighted that The Kendal Beekeepers’ Association have agreed to join us for the day. They were founded in 1945 and have about 40 members, all of whom are members of the British Beekeepers’ Association. They will bring along a glass observation hive with real bees, information on attracting bees into your garden, and a beehive containing photographs so people can see inside ‘safely’, and perhaps even honey to sell. There has been a recent decline in bee populations in the UK and since without bees there would be no apples, Kendal Beekeepers’ will illustrate that beekeeping is not just an interesting hobby but that insect pollination of plants is vital for human and environmental survival.
