Warehouse and Maintenance Operative (Full Time)
Beetham Nurseries is an independent, family-owned garden centre based in south Cumbria. A business of over 80 team members, plants are our passion and we are proud to offer the highest quality indoor & outdoor plants, garden furniture, homeware, food & drink, and event experiences to our large customer base.
Beetham Nurseries is looking for an experienced Warehouse and Maintenance Operative to work within our established team.
Key Responsibilities
- Goods In: Unloading deliveries (forklift license essential), checking for damage/missing items, signing delivery notes, and moving stock to storage.
- Stock Management: Storing goods in correct locations, performing regular stock counts, and replenishing stock levels in-store.
- Order Picking, Packing & Dispatch: Locating items, packaging them securely, and labelling for dispatch. Loading packed orders onto delivery vehicles.
- Record Keeping: Booking in deliveries and stock using paperwork in the office.
- Health & Safety: Keeping the work area organised, tidy, and safe, and reporting any faults.
- General Maintenance Tasks: such as display building, repairs, and upkeep — including carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping — ensuring facilities are safe, functional, and presentable.
Essential Skills & Qualities
We are looking for someone with the following skills:
- Forklift license (essential)
- Good organisational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical fitness (manual handling).
- Familiarity with scanners and basic computer systems.
- Maintenance skills (carpentry, painting, and groundskeeping)
Experience
Previous experience is essential. Full training will be given to the successful candidate.
