Signs of Spring Watercolour Workshop for Beginners
Join artist and illustrator Carla Gebhard for a lovely and relaxing watercolour workshop, perfect for beginners! Inspired by the gentle signs of spring, think wild daffodils, bird eggs, and little bumblebees. Carla takes a relaxed, no-pressure approach to painting, she encourages you to experiment and embrace the natural qualities of watercolour paints. There are no right or wrong strokes, only happy accidents to be embraced, helping to build your creative confidence. This approach not only sparks creativity, but also brings a sense of mindfulness to your painting practice.
Here’s what to expect during the workshop:
The 3-hour session is split into two parts. In the first two hours, we’ll focus on warming up, relaxing your wrist (and your mind), and getting comfortable with the paints. During this time, you’ll create at least three small practice pieces, exploring techniques inspired by spring flowers and seasonal details at a relaxed pace.
After this, we’ll enjoy a short break with homemade cake and coffee, giving you time to decide what you’d like to focus on for your final piece. The last hour is dedicated to putting your newfound skills into practice as you create your own spring-inspired masterpiece in a calm, supportive environment.

All equipment will be provided, including paints, paper, and brushes.
The details
This workshop will take place on our Terrace (to the right of The Garden Cafe) in our marquee. It is heated on cooler days, but please wear suitable clothing.
Your ticket price includes tea, coffee, and a sweet treat.
Seating in the Marquee consists of wooden chairs, so you may wish to bring a cushion for added comfort.
Please advise of dietary requirements when booking.

On arrival at the workshop, you will be given a 10% discount voucher valid for the day of your workshop. So don’t forget to make the most of some shopping time before or after your workshop!
Please note the voucher cannot be used against Garden Furniture, in The Garden Cafe, or The Food Hall.
