Practical Gardening - Making The Most of Your Existing Beds & Borders
Do you have existing beds & borders that lack interest, colour, are dense and overgrown, dominated by shrubs & random planting? Are you feeling overwhelmed and wondering where to start? In this practical workshop, you will discover how to assess and improve your borders to make them work for you over a long period of time.
The sessions will cover key aspects such as carrying out a plant audit, assessing plant features and interest, renovating and reshaping plants and how to be selective when choosing and buying plants. There will also be guidance and advice on when and how to relocate existing plants & best planting methods.
There will be lots of practical hints and tips on how to maximise the impact and long-term interest of existing shrubs & trees, such as utilising climbers and underplanting.
The last 30 minutes of the session will allow for a summary, round-up and Q&A.
All you need to bring with you on the day is a notebook and pen. You will be given handouts relevant to the workshop to take home. There will be lots of opportunities during the day to handle materials referred to during the session. The workshop is very interactive and at any point during the day you can ask questions relating to your own gardens.
The details
This workshop will take place on our Terrace (to the right of The Garden Cafe) in our marquee. It is heated on cooler days, but please wear suitable clothing.
Your ticket price includes tea, coffee, lunch, and a sweet treat.
Seating in the Marquee consists of wooden chairs, so you may wish to bring a cushion for added comfort.
