Rag Rug Workshop
Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into the colourful, creative world of rag rug making!
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to design and craft your own unique Rag Rug using traditional techniques. After getting to grips with the essential tools — including a latch hook and cutting gauge — you’ll begin creating your rug with 100% pure wool blanket yarn, a beautiful and sustainable material.
This yarn is a waste product from the UK weaving industry, sourced from mills around the country — giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to landfill.
Your course includes:
- Your own latch hook
- 1 ball of blanket yarn
- A 100 x 60 cm hessian mat
You’ll leave the workshop with the skills and confidence to finish your rug at home, and additional supplies will be available to purchase on the day to allow you to complete your rug.
Your tutors, Alison and Lorraine, are both experienced teachers — and self-confessed rag rug addicts! Be warned: after this workshop, you might just find yourself hooked too.
The details
This workshop will take place on our Terrace (to the right of The Garden Cafe) in our marquee. It is heated on cooler days, but please wear suitable clothing.
Your ticket price includes tea, coffee, and a sweet treat.
Seating in the Marquee consists of wooden chairs, so you may wish to bring a cushion for added comfort.

When buying online, your tickets will be emailed to you. You don't need to print the ticket as we will have your booking when we check you in. On arrival at the workshop, you will be given a 10% discount voucher valid for the day of your workshop. So don’t forget to make the most of some shopping time before or after your workshop!
Please note the voucher cannot be used against Garden Furniture, in The Garden Cafe, or The Food Hall.
