Botanical Watercolour Workshop for Beginners

Join artist and illustrator Carla Gebhard for a lovely and relaxing watercolour workshop perfect for beginners! Loosely inspired by dried flowers and their natural imperfections, Carla takes a relaxed, no-pressure approach to painting. She encourages you to loosen up and embrace the natural qualities of watercolour paints where there are no right or wrong strokes, only happy accidents to be embraced. This approach to painting is not only creatively freeing, but also adds a sense of mindfulness to painting. It's the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind, and let your creativity flourish.
 
Here's what you can expect during the workshop: 
 
The 3-hour session will be split into two parts. In the first two hours, we'll focus on warming up, relaxing your wrist (and mind) and getting comfortable with the paints. During this time, you'll paint at least three small practice paintings, using them to explore and play with the paints at a relaxed pace while creating lovely pieces of art. After this, we'll take a short break for cake and coffee, giving you time to think about which flower(s) you'd like to paint for your final piece. The last hour will be dedicated to putting your newfound skills into practice as you continue to relax and paint your final masterpiece. More info and images can be found on Carla's website.

All equipment will be provided, including paints, paper, and brushes.

The details

This workshop will take place on our Terrace (to the right of The Garden Cafe) in our marquee. It is heated on cooler days, but please wear suitable clothing.

Your ticket price includes tea, coffee, and a sweet treat. 

Seating in the Marquee consists of wooden chairs, so you may wish to bring a cushion for added comfort.

On arrival at the workshop, you will be given a 10% discount voucher valid for the day of your workshop. So don’t forget to make the most of some shopping time before or after your workshop!

Please note the voucher cannot be used against Garden Furniture, in The Garden Cafe, or The Food Hall.
