How to Grow New Plants from Seed Workshop

Learn how to propagate plants from seed in this workshop by Marguerite Hughes. The workshop content includes the equipment you need, an explanation & illustration of the different types of seed & best times to sow. There will be lots of practical hints & tips on how to succeed with seed sowing & a practical demonstration on sowing hardy perennials for same-year flowering. Marguerite will also demonstrate other propagation techniques for this time of year, including hardwood cuttings. The workshop will include a practical session where you will be able to sow your own perennial seeds to take home & grow on to plant & flower in your garden.

The last 30 minutes of the session will allow for summary round up and Q & A.

All you need to bring with you on the day is a notebook and pen.You will be given handouts relevant to the workshop to take home. There will be lots of opportunities during the day to handle materials referred to during the session.The workshop is very interactive and at any point during the day you can ask questions relating to your own gardens.

The details

This workshop will take place on our Terrace (to the right of The Garden Cafe) in our marquee. It is heated on cooler days, but please wear suitable clothing.

Your ticket price includes tea, coffee, and a sweet treat. If you book the afternoon workshop too, you will receive lunch between the workshops.

Seating in the Marquee consists of wooden chairs, so you may wish to bring a cushion for added comfort.
