Planning & Designing a Cut Flower Border
This workshop, with Marguerite Hughes, will outline the key aspects and methods to design & develop a border or area for growing flowers for cutting. It will include choosing the best sites, soils planting methods — including raised beds and containers. Marguerite will illustrate which plants are best for growing as cut flowers, including annuals and bulbs. She will also outline how and when to grow them from seed and other propagation methods.
The last 30 minutes of the session will allow for summary round up and Q & A.
All you need to bring with you on the day is a notebook and pen. You will be given handouts relevant to the workshop to take home. There will be lots of opportunities during the day to handle materials referred to during the session. The workshop is very interactive and at any point during the day you can ask questions relating to your own gardens.
This workshop can be booked as a follow-on from the morning workshop, or as a standalone session.
The details
This workshop will take place on our Terrace (to the right of The Garden Cafe) in our marquee. It is heated on cooler days, but please wear suitable clothing.
Your ticket price includes tea, coffee, and a sweet treat. If you book the morning workshop too, you will receive lunch between the workshops.
Seating in the Marquee consists of wooden chairs, so you may wish to bring a cushion for added comfort.
