Spring Botanical Pot Painting Workshop

Decorate a terracotta plant pot with spring flowers using acrylic paint pens and Japanese decorative papers.

In this three hour workshop led by illustrator Rachel Allsop, you’ll be given a 20cm tall terracotta pot and shown how to create bold, colourful designs using acrylic paint pens. We’ll explore simple ways to build up floral shapes, add detail, and layer colour.

You’ll also have the option to add texture and pattern using Japanese washi-style papers, which offer a lovely contrast to the painted surface.

Floral references will be provided to spark ideas, but if you have a favourite spring flower or plant, feel free to bring a photo along to use in your design. You’ll be guided through each step, with tips on how to make your design work well on a curved surface and how to combine paint and paper in a way that feels fun and achievable.

The session is suitable for all levels, whether you’ve painted before or just fancy trying something new. All materials are included, and you’ll take home your decorated pot along with ideas and inspiration to keep creating at home. 

The Details

This workshop will take place on our Terrace (to the right of The Garden Cafe) in our marquee. It is heated on cooler days, but please wear suitable clothing.

Your ticket price includes tea, coffee, and a sweet treat. 

Seating in the Marquee consists of wooden chairs, so you may wish to bring a cushion for added comfort.
