Plants to Extend the Season
This workshop will explain & illustrate the key aspects to successfully planning & designing garden beds & borders for Autumn impact with a focus on trees & shrubs with autumnal foliage interest. The workshop will recommend both key plants & the planting techniques for achieving success. Among the plants highlighted during the sessions will be Acers, Deciduous Euonymus, Cotinus, Hamamelis, Fothergilla, Sorbus & other key trees & shrubs that are at their peak in Autumn. Marguerite will illustrate & explain planting & growing techniques including choosing the right site in your garden & tips for plants growing in containers. The workshop will also cover aftercare, feeding, pruning & planting combinations.
The last 30 minutes of the session will allow for summary, round up & Q&A.
All you need to bring with you on the day is a notebook & pen. You will be given handouts relevant to the workshop to take home. There will be lots of opportunities during the day to handle materials referred to during the sessions. The workshop is very interactive & there will be regular intervals where you can ask questions about the topics explored in the workshop & how they relate to your garden.
The details
This workshop will take place on our Terrace (to the right of The Garden Cafe) in our marquee. It is heated on cooler days, but please wear suitable clothing.
Your ticket price includes tea, coffee, lunch and a sweet treat.
Seating in the Marquee consists of wooden chairs, so you may wish to bring a cushion for added comfort.
