Plant your own amaryllis bulb to enjoy a spectacular winter display at home, and take away three paperwhite bulbs to create your own fragrant festive arrangements. In this informative and practical workshop, Marguerite will share everything you need to know about forcing bulbs indoors for colourful Christmas displays.
Discover tips and techniques to encourage a range of bulbs into early flower, bringing colour and scent into your home throughout the winter months. You'll learn which bulbs perform best, including amaryllis, narcissus, paperwhites, galanthus, lily of the valley, crocus, iris, hyacinths and muscari, as well as the best varieties for fragrance.
During the practical session, Marguerite will guide you through planting your own amaryllis bulb to take home, while also demonstrating a selection of beautiful indoor bulb arrangements. You'll receive planting recipes and three paperwhite bulbs to recreate the displays at home.
The workshop will also cover the key methods and timings for success, including choosing the right composts and containers, planting combinations, and aftercare. The final 30 minutes will be dedicated to a summary of the session and a chance to ask Marguerite your questions.
All you need to bring with you on the day is a notebook & pen. You will be given handouts relevant to the workshop to take home. There will be lots of opportunities during the day to handle materials referred to during the sessions.
The details
This workshop will take place in our marquee on our terrace (to the right of The Garden Cafe). It is heated on cooler days, but please wear suitable clothing.
Your ticket price includes tea, coffee, mulled wine, and a sweet treat.
Seating in the marquee consists of wooden chairs, so you may wish to bring a cushion for added comfort.

On arrival at the workshop, you will be given a 10% discount voucher valid for the day of your workshop. So don’t forget to make the most of some shopping time before or after your workshop!
Please note the voucher cannot be used against Garden Furniture, in The Garden Cafe, or The Food Hall.
