Our 2025 Charity Partner Announced as Growing Well Cumbria

Growing Well

Beetham Nurseries' new Charity Partner for 2025 is... Growing Well Cumbria!

Growing Well provides a professional, specialist adult mental health intervention for adults experiencing a moderate to severe level of mental ill health. In the non-clinical context of a thriving horticultural enterprise, people experiencing mental ill health can activate their own recovery and live a healthier life.

We know just how rewarding growing can be and we are thrilled that our support will be helping Growing Well's volunteers unearth new confidence, skills and purpose through performing horticultural tasks and contributing to crop harvests.

What do Growing Well do?

Growing Well’s horticultural enterprise operates at commercial scale and is the biggest organic producer in Cumbria. Individuals they support are directly involved in all supply chains and therefore experience a tangible sense of purpose and produce sales underpin vital income for the charity.

Their holistic approach and model tackle a broad range of social, emotional, and physical needs and the extended duration of their structured support (compared with other, prescribed interventions) delivers a sustained recovery. They equip individuals with skills, networks and personal resilience to withstand future challenges. Their service is proven to transform people’s lives, and they record a significant uplift in mental health after 6 months for more than 70% of those they support, with 100% of current attendees saying that attendance has a positive effect on their mental health.

How we will work together

Here are just a few of the exciting activities Beetham has planned to support Growing Well this year...

  • Organic veg available in The Food Hall
  • Specials made from their organic produce in our cafes
  • Donating profits from each sale of Bob on Paintings' charity cards
  • Apple Weekend apple pressing donations

We will have more plans throughout the year so keep your eye on our social channels for updates. We can't wait to work together in 2025!
